or NetBooks as they are sometimes called (I like that name). I was shopping WalMart’s website for a computer for my nephew when I came across a couple more of these little wonders:

cute little gadget computer…
I saw one of these at Best Buy today; it had XP instead of Linux. It was quite a cute little gadget; I was especially impressed that it had a non-glossy screen ! That’s a pet peeve of mine, I utterly cannot stand glossy screens ! Of course 512 MB is not a lot of memory but for the price it is nice ! It had 3 (or 4 ?) USB ports, an ethernet port and or course wireless. I was tempted to buy one to keep around as a spare, but though better of it. What I want for my next computer is a MacBook Pro - with a non glossy screen of course !

This looks like quite a cool device. I’m tempted to get one, but they are a bit pricey ! The thing is though, that I’m not sure if I would like reading from a device as opposed to an actual book. So to buy something like that would be risky !

an article that will get your attention…
This article is simultaneously scary as hell and hopeful. We are indeed addicted to technology and I suspect this is natural for Humans; technology is one of the traits that sets us apart from other creatures (stone age tools are a type of technology). This article makes an excellent point that our current technology is way too energy intensive or more accurately petroleum intensive. Another point made is that technology has profound effects on our psychology and society. This is an interesting and thought provoking article; although I think there is also a touch of paranoia perhaps. Or, perhaps not…

friday evening…
Today was a busy day, but I really did not make a lot of progress ! I went to get my blood drawn for labs, so that wasted about 2 hours. At work I did a lot of loose ends stuff but did not get a lot done otherwise. I gave some stuff to Heather to do, so that will help me some. There was lot’s of ice out today, hoping tomorrow will be nicer. Mike and Piglette came down for the weekend; they all went out shopping ! I told Sweetous and Pig to be careful in the stores ! LOL, I always get uneasy when the women go to stores. So, now I’m just taking it easy listening to music and prowling the web…

Cloudo - The Computer Evolved - this looks interesting, but doesn’t seem to be working yet; appears to be some sort of web desktop and applications set-up; sort of like think free or zoho perhaps ? It’s getting to be that you really don’t need to buy software for your computer because there is so much available via the web….
