Today was fairly laid back at work. I went walking in the morning and at lunch time. Recently I started a new google account from scratch. I’m trying to keep it in a more systematic way than I had my other one. So today I added some pictures to my Picasa Web Albums; and put tags and location maps with them…

Verizon and Google have formed a strategic partnership that will “leverage the Verizon Wireless network and the best of the Android open platform to deliver leading-edge mobile applications, — I wonder if this is good or not ? I like Google but Verizon tends to be a pain in the ass to deal with….

I had a busy day at work; also walked 20 minutes morning and noon. I also managed to eat too much ’cause they had a deli buffet for lunch in the office.
After work, Sweetous and I went bike riding iin the park for 60 minutes. I left my keys in her car and when we finished the ride she drove off without me; and she didn’t have her cell phone !
So I walked to Borders; another 40 minutes. I called her cell and the house; told her to come get me. So, I looked around and while and then she came and we went home.
I’ve also been messing around some on google…..

Flickr: lurking chihuahua’s Photostream – I was having my coffee and surfing the web this morning and rediscovered Flickr. I had an account there but had not used it for a long time. I read an article, a cautionary tale against over reliance on Google (I am a big Google fan). So today I added some pics of baby Mike to my Flickr pics.
Look here: Barack Obama is on Flickr too !

I said yesterday that I was a fan of all things Google: List of Google products – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Today I discovered a Google service that heretofore was not known to me: Google Book Search. Of course I had to check it out and sign-up for it: Dennis’s library – Google Book Search.

I’m a big fan of all things Google, especially gmail. But here is another good PIM suite on the web: GMX – Free E-Mail – Webmail & POP3, IMAP. I nearly forgot I had this but they sent me an update in my gmail today. This has a very nice looking interface and runs fairly fast too. For sure it’s better than Hotmail !

Google Answers: How many calories per stair?
I wanted to find out the calories burned if I did a complete circuit down and then back up of the stairs in my office building (50 down 50 up). I kept finding calories per hour for either up or down which really wasn’t helpful to me. I mean I am certainly not going to walk the stairs for an hour or even come close to that. The link above gives a figure per stair going up and going down.

In my web surfing today I did a search on Google for “virtual worlds” and while looking at some of the items listed I came across the term “web3.0″ Curious how that differs from web2.0. I shall have to investigate later. Here are some links to get started…

This was one of the Google Ad links in my gmail this morning. You just never know what’s gonna jump out at you on the web. LOL ! Actually Sweetous and I did have a very small scale enterprise doing in that business a while back; apparently there are others doing it also. Out of curiosity I did a google search for “dog poop” and found some links.
Among the these links is a cautionary tale of what happens to people whose dogs poop on trains in South Korea. This is an interesting example of the power and peril of the web. On the search results page there are numerous ads related to businesses dealing with various aspects of dog excrement. Since this is the internet, you can see listed right at the top are pages for pictures ! YIKES ! I won’t even put the link for that in here, but it’s really there. You just never know what you will find…
