Coffee time went into overtime this morning. Just finished breakfast. Lunch time now consisting of hard salami, Swiss cheese on a hard roll topped off with a Kandy Kake. Then I better go lurk and prowl somewhere lest I should while away the entire day lost in cyberspace…..

Remember man, you are dust and to dust you shall return. Death is my constant companion and your’s too. I suppose that may sound melodramatic but think about it; it’s the plain truth.
So why am I contemplating my mortality today ? It’s still Christmas, not Ash Wednesday ! (More …)

I was standing in my kitchen and felt a sudden shake of the house, lasted only a couple seconds. I went outside to look around and saw nothing. So I concluded that it was my imagination. Wrong ! A it later my daughter called and asked about the earthquake, then I checked twitter and it was all over on there. I had planned to go to an appointment in Bethesda but now I won’t ’cause I’m sure the traffic is a mess….

I looked at my bank account noting that my military retirement check was listed as “pending”. Hoping they don’t change their mind at the last minute….
Furthermore, Congress needs to get their act together so this high anxiety crap doesn’t happen again. And yes, we do need to increase taxes ! To hell with the Tea Party !

Busy day yesterday: updated my money spreadsheet, loitered in Best Buy, lurked in Barnes and Noble. Also burned some brush in the backyard, reading from Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words by Brian D. McLaren and Craving the Divine: A Spiritual Guide for Today’s Perplexed by Niles Elliot Goldstein both good books. Also watched a pay per view on TV with the Woman…..

What am I good at remembering and what do I always seem to forget ? Well to start off I will say that I tend to have a short attention span; frequently running on auto-pilot. How this came about I really don’t know but it is probably exacerbated by looking at spreadsheets all day and trolling about the web in my off hours. I’ve been trying to do better though by walking a couple times a day (try to anyway) and reading books on my Kindle in lieu of lurking on the web…. (More …)

Christian Curmudgeon Condemns “Go the F*** to Sleep” | Philosophical Fragments | I listened to part of this and it is sort of funny. On the other hand I got tired of it before it was over and this guy is right: it is really Trashy !

I have a 401k plan for retirement but otherwise live paycheck to paycheck. I try to keep a few hundred in the bank but often I must “raid the cookie jar” to pay some bill or unexpected expense. And so it goes…..

I had a nice full day ! At first I thought I had stayed up too late last night but with the help of some coffee I was able to salvage the morning. I even made it to church; so I am happy about that. After church, a manly breakfast at Bob’s followed by a 60 minute walk in th Frederick park. Then loitering at Barnes & Noble. I shall finish the day off with some reading and perhaps watch some TV….
A couple of good books I am currently reading: Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words [Kindle Edition] and Winter’s Bone: A Novel [Kindle Edition]

I did have a couple of part time jobs when I was in high school; also mowed lawns and caddied some when I was a kid. My first real job was the Army. I enlisted right out of high school and stayed for twenty years. I was stationed in Germany twice and Korea once. I met my wife, also a soldier, on my second tour in Germany. We got married in Denmark and are living happily ever after….

That would be church early morning or Saturday evening followed a by a massive manly breakfast; bacon, eggs, etc. bring it on ! After breakfast loiter in the mall a while and then to Barnes and Noble for the remaining hours of the afternoon….
Typically I don’t have the massive manly breakfast and I often have chores that must be completed; most often finish the laundry…

We left Damascus on Friday 12/24 about 15:00 and arrived at daughter’s house ’bout 19:00. Didn’t go to church ’cause both grand babies were sick. So Christmas morning up around 07:00 and Mike (2 year old) opened some gifts but he really wasn’t paying attention, just having a good time. We all left for my Parents’ place around 11:00 for an hour drive to DuBois where we had an excellent Christmas dinner thanks to my sister in law Alison. Fearing the pending blizzard I left with my older daughter about 18:30 for the return trip to Damascus whilst Sweetous stayed with Dawnie in State College. Arrived home in Damascus about 21:00 on Christmas night; exhausted….
And along with the daunting itinerary I still have the Head Cold from Hell; an ongoing phenomenon since mid December…

I am right good and tired…
Busy at work all last week. Sweetous decided it was time to go to Piglette’s on Wednesday; so I drove her to State College and then I came back thursday morning. By all indications Leah was to be born on Thursday but she stretched it out ’til past midnight. So she was born very early Friday. I drove up to State College to meet my new grand baby on Friday. Then return trip Saturday afternoon. Stopped in Frederick and went to church before going home. Then to top it all off: I stayed up lost in cyberspace ’til 03:00 am Sunday morning….
GAWD ! I’m tired….
